Between August 16 and 26, I recorded unusual activity on six Bitcoin addresses that had remained untouched since 2011 to 2014. Collectively, these wallets moved 553.59 BTC, which at the current market rate amounts to approximately $40 million. This event is notable not only for the amount but also for the nature of the transactions: five of the six addresses sent funds to wallets with no direct links to major exchanges, reducing the likelihood of an immediate sale.

The distribution of funds is of particular interest. One of the transfers — 40 BTC — was directed to the Boerse Stuttgart Digital platform, indicating possible use of regulated infrastructure for institutional operations. The remaining 513.59 BTC went to unknown addresses, which is typical for movements of "ancient" coins that often precede long-term storage or over-the-counter deals.

Market Context Analysis

Based on my estimates, drawing on Galaxy Research data, activity of "dormant" coins in the second quarter of 2026 reached its lowest level since the third quarter of 2022. This confirms the overall trend: the current year shows half the volume of such asset movements compared to the previous one. This dynamic suggests that holders of old Bitcoins prefer to maintain their positions, waiting for a more favorable price environment.

The awakening of wallets from 2011–2014 is a rare phenomenon, especially in conditions where the market is undergoing a consolidation phase. Such transfers are often interpreted as a signal that large players are ready to lock in profits or rebalance portfolios. However, the absence of massive movement to exchanges softens the bearish scenario.

My comment: In the short term, these transactions are unlikely to exert direct pressure on the price, given the $40 million volume — this is less than 0.1% of daily turnover. Much more important is the psychological aspect: each case of activation of "ancient" coins attracts market attention and could trigger volatility. I recommend that investors monitor subsequent movements from these addresses — if funds begin to flow to major trading platforms, this will change the picture.
