Major asset manager Franklin Templeton is making a strategic move into Asia, officially launching its tokenized money market fund grBENJI on the HashKey Exchange platform. This is a landmark event for the real-world assets (RWA) sector, demonstrating growing demand for institutional digital instruments beyond traditional Western markets.

The product is primarily focused on investments in short-term U.S. Treasury bills and highly liquid dollar-denominated instruments. Essentially, it is a tokenized version of a classic money market fund that combines the reliability of government debt with the flexibility and transparency of blockchain infrastructure.

An important detail: access to grBENJI is open exclusively to professional investors through the Earn section. Retail clients in Hong Kong cannot yet use this product, highlighting the partners' cautious approach to regulation and compliance in a jurisdiction with high compliance standards.

The strategic partnership between Franklin Templeton and HashKey is not limited to a single product. Plans to expand the range of tokenized solutions on the platform have already been announced, indicating the formation of a sustainable bridge between traditional finance (TradFi) and decentralized ecosystems.

From my point of view, this is not just another listing, but a signal of the maturity of the RWA market. Major players have stopped experimenting and begun scaling tokenization in regulated hubs such as Hong Kong. However, the restriction for retail investors is a reminder that the full adoption of digital assets in the mass segment still requires time and a clearer legislative framework.
