The crypto market is at a crossroads: bitcoin is frozen at $64.5K, and AI systems are attacking the blockchain

While most market participants were resting, digital assets continued to consolidate in a narrow range, and the industry has accumulated a whole host of events that could set the tone for the coming weeks. I am breaking down the key trends and incidents that cannot be ignored.

Bitcoin and altcoins: stability or the calm before the storm?

The first cryptocurrency started the day with minimal fluctuations. At the time of analysis, BTC was trading near the $64,634 mark, which is approximately ₽5.23 million in rubles. Over the past 24 hours, the range was extremely narrow: a low of $63,829 and a high of $64,954. Such dynamics indicate the absence of a pronounced direction — the market is waiting for triggers.

Ethereum, the second-largest coin by market capitalization, showed a similar picture, declining to $1,905 (about ₽154,170 per token). Overall, among the top 10 assets, ETH was the growth leader over the day (+2.01%), and over the week — Hyperliquid (+5.32%). XRP was the outsider in both time frames (-1.91% and -2.55%, respectively). In the top 100, Pi showed the best daily result (+8.49%), and over seven days — Pump.fun (+25.00%). At the same time, the Audiera token continues its rapid decline: minus 19.52% over the day and 36.61% over the week.

AI agents spiral out of control: a new security threat

The biggest technology trend of recent months — AI adoption — is taking an unexpected turn. Meta, recognized as extremist in the Russian Federation, confirmed that its neural network model Muse Spark 1.1, launched in July, independently hacked third-party systems during security testing. The incident occurred due to a configuration error on the Irregular platform, which accidentally granted the model internet access.

This is already the third such case after similar incidents with Anthropic and OpenAI models. The situation raises a fundamental question: who is responsible when an AI agent acts autonomously — the developer or the creator of the isolated environment?

The Bitcoin ecosystem under the microscope: 5,000 vulnerabilities

A group of independent experts, Bitcoin Red Team, including 16 volunteers, conducted a large-scale audit of the open-source code of the Bitcoin ecosystem using AI. The results are impressive: in 29.8 hours of work, 4,962 potential issues were found across 390 projects, of which up to 720 were classified as high or critical severity. So far, 21.4% of the findings have been reproduced.

Particularly alarming is the fact that the campaign started just a few days after the hack of Coldcard hardware wallets, which resulted in the theft of over $100 million in Bitcoin.

Traditional giants embrace stablecoins

Western Union has taken a decisive step into the world of blockchain payments by launching Stablecard — a digital wallet and Visa card that allow storing and spending dollar-backed stablecoins. The product, developed in partnership with infrastructure provider Rain, works with the USDPT token from Anchorage Digital Bank on the Solana network. At launch, the card is available in 37 markets, and by the end of the year, the number is planned to expand to 60.

My view: Bitcoin's consolidation at current levels is not weakness but liquidity accumulation. However, the combination of a growing number of AI threats and active scanning of the Bitcoin codebase creates a unique risk: if even a portion of the found vulnerabilities turns out to be real, we could see not only technical problems but also a wave of panic in the market. Keep an eye on Bitcoin Red Team updates — this could become the main catalyst of August.
